Neil Barker:
I was born in 1987 in Harrogate, North Yorkshire (England)
I have wanted to be a writer for over a decade, but until a few years ago I never really thought that it was a viable career option, however I could not deny the passion that I have for writing and so gave in to my urges and decided to concentrate on a career in writing.
The first step along the road towards my goals was university. I studied Creative Writing at The University of Bradford and I can honestly say that the experience that I gained was invaluable and helped me in not only improving my own writing and showing me where my strengths lie, but it also confirmed the passion that I have for writing, enhancing my desire to to pursue a career in writing. If anyone is interested in writing as a career, I would seriously suggest considering studying on a course like the one I did because there are not many places where you can learn as much as you do on the course, and alongside your fellow students you can work together to improve each other's writing and editing abilities.
Having graduated from University with a degree, I decided that if I was going to take writing seriously as a career I would need to get writing, so I have spent the past few months working on various projects (as you can see from the side bar) in the hope that I will be able to build up enough work to send out while I go out and get the inevitable full time job that will be required to earn money until my career is up and running.
My career has only just begun and hopefully with a lot of hard work and determination I will be able to make a comfortable living as a writer, bringing good stories and programmes to anyone who wishes to read or watch them.
